The House on the Edge of the Park (1980) Film Review

Alex (David Hess) is driving around at night when he spots a young woman (Karoline Mardeck) driving alongside him. He cuts her off near a park, gets into her car, throws her into the backseat where he rapes and strangles her to death.Alex later meets up with his mildly retarded friend Ricky (Giovanni Lombardo Radice) at the auto repair shop they work at, to go to a disco. As they are about to leave, a rich couple named Tom (Christian Borromeo) and Lisa (Annie Belle) pull into their garage asking them to fix their car. Alex refuses to fix the car even after Tom offers him a significant amount of money. Ricky gives it a look and manages to fix the alternator. Lisa invites Alex and Ricky to a party at their friend’s house. Before leaving for the party, Alex opens his locker and takes out his straight-edge razor. When they arrive, Alex and Ricky meet the owner of the mansion Gloria (Lorraine de Selle), and are introduced to her friends Glenda (Marie Claude Joseph), and Howard (Gabriele Di Giulio). Shortly after, the socially challenged Ricky makes a fool of himself by beginning a strip tease in front of his bored new acquaintances. A little later, a poker game begins, which is obviously rigged. Alone with Alex, Lisa begins sexually teasing him. She pushes him off and goes upstairs for a shower. Alex leaves Ricky to go shower with Lisa. Alex returns downstairs and becomes increasingly angry as he watches the rigged game and how his gullible friend is being toyed with. Alex finally has enough and violence breaks out between him and Howard. A fist fight follows with Alex eventually winning. Howard comes at him with a wine bottle. He is held at bay when Alex threatens to slash Tom’s throat with his razor. The hosts of the party are now hostages.
